Our topic this term is…

Nocturnal Animals

In Science we will be learning about animal habitats and life cycles.

In Geography we will be completing fieldwork and creating maps with symbols.

In Art we will be creating pieces of work using various types of sculpture.

Our PSHE learning will link to growing and changing.

Our RE learning will be considering new life.

In ICT we will be using programs to create an animated story book

In PE we will be completing multi-skills in the ball court.

In mathematics we will be learning about fractions of shapes and amounts, the children will also be working on multiplication and division problems.

The children will complete a weekly arithmetic test; this will be then sent home for your child to work on any misconceptions.


Class information:

  • Homework - will consist of reading, arithmetic, and one optional extra piece. It will be sent home every Friday and there is no expectation for it to be returned.
  • PE - will take place every Monday and all children will need an outdoor PE Kit in school.
  • Water Bottles – please send your child to school with a named water bottle, these can be purchased from the office for £1.50.


Ways to support your child:

  • Make time for your child to read their school reading book to you at least 2 times a week
  • Encourage your child to ‘sound out’ unfamiliar words
  • Practice sounding out and blending (putting them back together) words
  • Use the sound mat to test their sound knowledge
